Scott slams Labour gimmicks and Tory irrelevance

12.00.00am BST (GMT +0100) Tue 27th Mar 2007

Tavish Scott MSP

Commenting on David Cameron's visit to Edinburgh, Liberal Democrat Election Director Tavish Scott said:

"Maybe while he is in Edinburgh David Cameron will be asking Annabel Goldie to explain how she thinks promising to avoid being in government will persuade people to vote Tory. It's not clear what Scottish Conservative policies are, but it doesn't matter as they've said they won't win and won't go into government which makes them irrelevant in Scotland."

Speaking about the launch of Labour's "unity" pact Mr Scott said:"Labour emphasising their 'unity' simply underlines that it has been the Liberal Democrats who have made the difference in Scotland with distinctive policies like free personal care while Labour are reduced to spin and gimmicks."
